Abdu'l-Bahá:  The border was done by masking off the whole sheet of paper except for the area in green here.  The background is a very pale pink Italian Vein pattern, barely visible here.  The central part of the paper was masked and kept blank so I could do the drawing there after the marbling was done.  When marbling is being used as a background, such as the pink veins here, it usually needs to be done in pastel shades so that it won't overpower the picture.
